JoAnn “Dolly” Roster, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at her home in Vinton.

     Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:45 AM, Monday, December14, 2020 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6^th Street) in Vinton.  Graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery following the visitation.  The family requests casual dress and masks will be worn at all times.

     JoAnn was born on July 14, 1932, the daughter of George and Bessie (Trimble) Haefner Sr.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton with the class of 1950.  On May 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to James Roster in Vinton.  He preceded JoAnn in death in 1998.

     JoAnn was the food service manager at Tilford Middle School, retiring in 1994.  Never one to sit still, JoAnn volunteered and was later employed at HACAP, where she very much enjoyed working with Harriet Mahoney.  She also volunteered at the Palace Theatre for over 20 years.

     She is survived by her children, Jill (Bruce) Tharp of Vinton, Jeff (Marion) Roster of Cedar Rapids; granddaughters, Mandy (Garauv) Gaud and Nicki Slater; 4 great-grandchildren and her brother Donald Haefner of Vinton.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim; her twin brother, George Haefner Jr., and brothers Richard, Harvey, and Stanley; and her great granddaughter Nita Draper in infancy.
