Obituaries : Danelle (Rauch) Short

Danelle (Rauch) Short, 55, passed away unexpectedly, in her home, on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.

Danelle was born January 7, 1966 in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Dana and Patricia (Elliott) Rauch. On August 17, 1988 she was united in marriage to Hershel Short in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Together they built and ran Short's Concrete successfully in Plymouth, Indiana then moving to Blairstown, IA for 27 years. Her children were always her main focus, and Danelle was the center of their worlds being the family rock, heart of the home, keeper of the memories, and proprietor of traditions. She was a loving devoted mother who would sacrifice anything for her children.

Danelle was gifted at so many things and had many interests and creative projects going at all times. She loved when spring time came around so she could start planting her flower beds, to which she always received many compliments on her beautiful landscaping.

Surviving, along with husband, Hershel, and the children, Chad, Brandon, Andrea, Cayden, Kamrielynn, and Christian, are father Dana (Susan) Rauch of Cedar Rapids; Step Father, Robert Opaczewski of Punta Gorda, Fl; grandsons Trevor Short and Lincoln Alexander; Sister, Krista Smith, nieces Allyssa Moren, Maci Prill, and Haley Moren; and nephews Mitchell Moren and Billy Smith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Opaczewski.

Danelle never wanted to be the center of attention so her services will be kept private for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honor Danelle are invited to make a donation toward the children's future.
