John "Masher" Eugene Papesh, 67, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away April 1, 2021 at his home, surrounded by family.
John was born October 26, 1953 to Eugene and Joyce Papesh at the Corn Belt Hospital in Belle Plaine. He attended Belle Plaine High School. He drove a semi for his father for 3 years, then went to work for Manatt's driving truck. Masher married Sandy Anderson and later separated.
He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, poker, cribbage, watching Young and the Restless and WWE wrestling.
Masher is survived by his mother, Joyce Papesh of Belle Plaine; brother, Richard (Lori) Papesh of Belle Plaine; children, Randy (Laura) Lacina of Bondurant, Victor (Laura) Lacina of Dallas GA; Keith Lacina of Cedar Rapids and Christopher (Kayla) Lacina of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Abby, Tyler, Ryan, Silas and Greta; nieces and nephews, Denni Jo Randall, Dustin Fabor, Elizabeth (Franky) Gallardo, Lilly Papesh and Jeana Papesh; great nieces and nephews, Franky Jr., Isabella and Forest; caregiver, Crystal Grimm; and handyman, Daren Grimm.
He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene; and sister Kathy Sue Papesh.
The family would like to thank Crystal and Daren Grimm for all the care and support they have given to Masher over the last 19 years and to Care Initiatives Hospice for their compassionate care as well.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine with Pastor John Graber officiating. Service will be livestreamed through the funeral home Facebook page. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.
