Charlotte Fye was ten days shy of her 94th birthday when she passed away on May 18.
Charlotte was married to David Fye in 1947. The couple had six children: Mona (Pytr) Knoll, John (deceased), Peg (David) O'Rourke, Robbie (Leon) Fye Leach, Tammy (Ron) Carolan and Lissa (Loren) Lippmann. She found joy in her eleven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Charlotte left home at 17, and worked for the US Treasury, she was an original feminist, self-reliant and self-supporting. She created two home businesses as a floral designer and as Petunia the Clown. She supported her husband in his UCC ministry and served as a church secretary.
"We could bring anyone home and she would feed them. She could make a delicious meal for many with a pound of hamburger. Our boyfriends feared and loved her and returned to visit her long after our relationships ended with them. She could sew a homecoming dress the afternoon of the dance. Our house was often where our friends wanted to be. She loved her sons-in-law like her own. She was strong as she lost a son and then a grandson. She was funny, opinionated, and a good friend."
Service and burial will be private. Memorials can be sent to 3913 Water Point Ct SW, Cedar Rapids, 52404.
