Anna "Jane" Jenkins, of Shellsburg, Iowa, passed away Sept. 17, 2021, at the age of 88 following a short illness. Private family services are to be held at a later date.
Jane was born Aug. 27, 1933. in St. Marys, Pa., the daughter of Ernest Meisel and Catherine (Nusbaum) Meisel.
Early in her youth her family moved to Erie, Pa. After completing her schooling, she worked for Marx Toy company. During this time, she was introduced to her future husband, Larry Jenkins. Jane and Larry were married June 13, 1953.
Jane is survived by children, Lawrence E. (Theresa) Jenkins of Savage, Minn., Robert J (Wanda) Jenkins of Atkins, Iowa, Patricia A. (Steve) Stickler of Durand, Mich., Susan E. (Jeff) Grosclaude of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence "Larry" Jenkins; her parents, Ernest and Catherine Meisel; brothers, Ernest Jr. (Red), Alfred and George; and sisters, Hellen Meisel and Mary Rita Hanes. She was also preceded in death by grandson, Jordan Grosclaude; and great-grandsons, Rowan Jenkins and Hudson Jenkins.
Later in life, Jane entered the workforce and worked for a variety of Cedar Rapids retailers, including World Bazaar, K's Merchandise Mart, and Von Mauer department store. After retiring, Jane spent time honing her considerable talent in quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed all things involving technology, including high-tech sewing machines, computers, (numerous) iPads and (playing and shopping on) the Internet.
Jane will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
