Donna Relf

Donna Relf, age 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at her rural Shellsburg home, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Oak Grove Christian Church in Shellsburg with Rev. Matt Magee officiating. Interment will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Friday.

Donna was born on April 30, 1943 in Iowa City, the daughter of Donald and Irene (Shay) Wolfe. She graduated from Urbana High School with the class of 1961. On April 25, 1964, she was united in marriage to Gary Relf in Hannibal, MO. Donna worked in administration at the Farmers Mutual Telephone Company in Shellsburg from 1984 until her retirement in 2008.

She was a member of Prairie Creek Church and later joined Oak Grove Christian Church. Donna enjoyed membership in the ladies coffee and card club, and loved to visit friends and family. She thoroughly enjoyed taking bus trips and encouraged her friends to accompany her. Donna always planted flowers in the spring at her home. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Cary D. (Rose) Relf, and Christine (Brian Brummer) Relf, all of Shellsburg; 3 grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel Lynch) Relf, Jena (David) Ervin, Dillon (Mikayla Raue) Brummer; 5 special great-grandchildren, Adrina, Lexington, and Carson Lynch, and Landon, and Luke Ervin; her sister Lorna Moody; sister-in-law, Marilyn Wolfe, and brother-in-law Jim Relf.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband Gary in 2003; brother William Wolfe, and 2 sisters, Shirley Vanourney, and Wilma Wolfe in infancy.

RB September 22, 2021, 10:34 pm Cary, Chris and all your family, my sincere sympathy in the loss of your Mom, Grandma, & Great-Grandma. Donna was my friend for many years, and I'll miss that. Up until recently, I'd get her notes of jokes and crazy stories from the internet, and usually in the middle of the night. We'd laugh about being night owls. Bless her soul, she is at peace. RS September 23, 2021, 11:33 am Donna was a special gal. She was associated with Schlarbaum Real Estate & Insurance Counselors for many Years. She was always a joy for all of us to be around. Even after retirement she remained a friend to all. God bless her & her family.

Chris, when we saw you in Fareway a few weeks back, I sure didn't realize I'd be sending a sympathy message to you and your family!
