Naomi Jane Mitchell, 83, of Hiawatha, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, at the Hiawatha Care Center. A visitation will be held form 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Private inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Robert (Peggy) Mitchell of Freeport, Ill., Suzanne (David) Keeling of Belle Plaine, Iowa, and Christine (Thomas) Curley of Urbana, Iowa; her stepchildren, Paula (Bill) Porter of Alburnett, Iowa, and Brad (Mary) Fuessley of Alburnett, Iowa; and her sister, Mardelle (Clete) Reinecke of Ohio. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Sean, Scott, Alex, Joel and Benjamin; several great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren; her special friends, Lisa and Bev; and very special dog, Toby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Howard Mitchell and Kenneth Fuessley; and her siblings, Helen Wilson, David, Grant, James Frazier and Catherine Karr.
Naomi was born July 9, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Adella Frazier. She married Howard Mitchell on Aug. 3, 1957. Howard died on Feb. 8, 1992. She married Kenneth Fuessley on Dec. 16, 1995. He died Oct. 21, 2009. Naomi was an office manager retiring from the Linn County Engineer's office. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She was very generous and you rarely left her home without a parting gift. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
