Dolores Joan (Travis) Begley, 89, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at The Gardens in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A private graveside service will be held at Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Dolores was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Lyman and Opal (Pease) Albaugh. She graduated from Alburnett High School class of 1950. Dolores was united in marriage to Glenn E. Travis. To this union, four children were born: Mike, Michelle, Mitch and Monica. They later divorced. Dolores later married Thomas Begley. She was employed for many years by Farmers Sate Bank as a customer service manager, where she met countless lifetime friends. She spent many years on a hobby farm near Whittier. Dolores loved animals, especially her horses. She spent countless hours working in her garden. First and foremost was her family, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by all her knew and loved her.

Dolores is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Mike Travis of Benton, Ark., Mitch (Jeri) Travis and Monica (Ron) Biery, both of Marion; five grandchildren, Emily, Reid, Alec, Alyssa and Trev; four great-grandchildren, Madeline, Judson, Flora and Colter, and one on the way; one sister, Donna (Denny) Stainbrook of Brandon; one brother-in-law, Ray Fuller of Marion; many nieces and nephews that she treated as her own kids; and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Opal Albaugh; two husbands, Glenn Travis and Thomas Begley; daughter, Michelle; and her sister-in-law, Jeanne Fuller.

Dolores' family would like to extend a special thank-you for the wonderful care that their mother had received, especially to Dr. Furqan and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics staff, Dr. Lee, and the Hall-Perrine Oncology Staff, and the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. The kindness and compassion that you showed our mother will never be forgotten.

A memorial fund in Dolores' memory has been established to benefit the Whittier Community Center. Memorials may be sent to her family or mailed to Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service at 3855 Katz Drive in Marion, IA 52302.
