Lorraine Ann Messer (Grace) 59 of Oskaloosa, Iowa died late April 2022 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Lorraine was born July 2, 1962, to parents Leonard and Carol Messer in Clinton, Iowa. Her family lived in Chadwick, Illinois where her father was superintendent of schools. They moved to Alburnett, Iowa and then to Shellsburg, Iowa where Lorraine attended grade school. She attended middle and high school at North Mahaska Community Schools in New Sharon, Iowa. Growing up, her family belonged to the Presbyterian churches in Shellsburg and New Sharon, Iowa. On December 29, 1989, Lorraine graduated from Marshalltown Community College with her LPN licensure. She then worked for several years as a nurse for rehabilitation and nursing services in south central Iowa. She married Roy Emery Grace in 2014. She had one child, son Jeff, who passed away in 2015.
She loved her family, friends, music, photography, horses, kittens, nature, gardening, and Mexican food. She enjoyed conversations with family and friends and always ended phone conversations with "Tell everybody that I love them." She liked campfires and going fishing as well. She had a kind heart if given the opportunity to show it. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Roy, son Jeff, parents Leonard and Carol, brothers Brent and Lawrence, and sister Kathleen. She is survived by her brother Mark and her nephews and nieces Tonya (Mark) Cisek, Dan (Sue) Lillie, Ben (Adrian) Messer, Tom (Kelly Messer, Alese (Will) Overly, Jen Messer, and Chris (Courtney) Messer.
A graveside funeral service will be held at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon, Iowa Friday, July 29, 2022, 1:30 PM.
