Obituaries : Clarence Larry Staton

Clarence Larry Staton, age 80, of Sweetwater passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 27, 2022 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Pastor Jerry Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. A family and friend's visitation will be Wednesday from 6:30 until 8:30 pm.

Larry was born October 16, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa to the late Melvin L. and Lillian M. (Husted) Staton. Larry married Nelda Jean Whitworth August 31, 1984, in Dallas. They moved to Sweetwater in 1986 and he worked for Sweetwater Cotton Oil Mill on the loading dock. Larry was a U.S. Army Veteran and member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters; Lisa (Michael) Fitch of Blacksburg, South Carolina, Lori Staton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sons; Larry David Staton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Lonnie Grady of San Antonio, his sister; Vivian Clark of Vinton, Iowa, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Larry was also preceded in death by his wife, Nelda November 6, 2006, a grandchild, four brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Michael Fitch, Gary Dunlap, Jr., Jeff Staton, Larry Staton, Brandon Spaulding and Ernest Dunlap, Jr.
