Obituaries : Eugene Keith Stanerson

Eugene Keith Stanerson, 73, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away January 2, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, IA surrounded by family.

Gene was born July 31, 1949 in Dubuque, IA to Harley and Elsie (Cleppe) Stanerson. Gene attended school in Belle Plaine. After graduating high school in 1967, he went to work alongside his father on the family farm. On April 20, 1974 he married Vicki J. Coy at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Belle Plaine.

Gene enjoyed farming, and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He rarely missed one of his grandchildren's sporting events. He also liked watching the Yankees and never missed a good game of poker.

Gene is survived by his wife, Vicki; children, Eric Stanerson of Belle Plaine, Shelley (Brian) Drahos of Blairstown, Kraig Stanerson of Coralville, Phillip (Megan) Stanerson of Hudson; grandchildren, Lakota, Shaylee, Emma, Ashlyn, Owen, Camden, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant son, Matthew.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine.
