Marlys Marie Floyd 86, of Cedar Rapids died Friday, January 27, 2023 at the home of her daughter. Services: 10:30 am, Wednesday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church by Rev. Dennis Miller. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Marlys is survived by two sons, Gary and Jeff Floyd both of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Becky (Doug) Pippert of Keystone and Cindy Crow of Luzerne; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert of Missoula, Montana and Michael (Berta) Williams of Norman, Idaho; and sister, Tammy (Jim) Jahner of Kalispell, Montana.

Marlys was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2013; son-in-law, Rodney Crow; two granddaughters, Chelsea Floyd and Melissa Crow; a brother, Steve Williams; and a sister Ann Wilson.

Marlys was born on September 27, 1936 in Waterloo, the daughter of Paul and Gertrude Welter Crummer. She graduated in 1954 from Geneseo Consolidated High School and received her nursing degree from Mount Mercy College in 1957. Marlys married James Floyd on March 21, 1958 at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She retired in 1996 after working at Mercy Hospital and serving as Administrator for nursing homes in Keystone and Cedar Rapids. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Marlys will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She was active at St Patrick Church and enjoyed playing bingo and reading. Marlys loved to write and wrote three books with imprimatur and articles for small town newspapers.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for an established memorial fund.
