Helen Yundt, 86, of Vinton, died peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Bickford of Marion.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m.  Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Vinton, with Pastor Brian Channel officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.  Private burial will be held at a later date.  Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Helen's family.

Helen was born July 15, 1936 at Independence, the daughter of Frank and Viola Shaw Sr.  She was a graduate of Independence High School and then Wartburg College where she earned a Bachelor's degree in education.  On February 22, 1958, Helen was united in marriage to Charles (Chuck) Yundt in Independence. 

Helen was very artistic, a great golfer, loved cats, lived for social events and was extremely proud that was she not only the Homecoming Queen for Independence High School, but also Wartburg College.

Helen is survived by her son, John (Lynn) Yundt of Vinton; granddaughter, Autumn (Rob) Conrad of Rowley; grandson, Nicholas (Nick) Yundt of Vinton; great-grandchildren: Kamdyn and Jada Conrad; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Chuck; two brothers: Frank (Mary Ellen) Shaw and Ross (Barb) Shaw; nephew, Dave Shaw; and niece, Angie Shaw.

Memorials may be directed to Wesley United Methodist Church, Vinton.
