Obituaries : Arthur Cleveland Thompson

Arthur Cleveland Thompson, 71, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away March 26, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Art was born May 11, 1951 to Leroy and Delphia (Porter) Thompson in Belle Plaine, IA. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1969. Art worked for the railroad from 1970 until retirement in 2013. On Oct. 14, 1972 Art married Jeanne DeCoster. Together they raised their two children in Belle Plaine.

Art enjoyed being outside, mushroom hunting and fishing. He liked playing cards, and loved going to the Office for his morning coffee.

He is survived by his children, Heath Thompson, and Haley (Sean) Thompson-Selecta; siblings, George (Tracey), Kenny, Ron, and Tracy Thompson; niece, Charity Thompson; nephews, Travis Thompson, and Charles DeCoster; and many more great-nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Art is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanne (2018); brothers, Larry and Richard Thompson.
