Arlene Mae Fintel, 97, of Elberon, IA passed away April 26, 2023 at Keystone Care Center, Keystone, IA.

Arlene was born December 18, 1925 to Edward and Nannie (Jordt) Deppe on the family farm in rural Keystone, IA. She attended school in Keystone until moving to Cedar Rapids, IA where she graduated from Wilson High School. Arlene married Howard Fintel on May 18, 1947, following his return of WWII, at the Trinity Lutheran Rectory in Cedar Rapids. Together they made their home in Elberon.

Arlene started out working as an office manager for a local attorney's office. Then went to work for JP Gasway in Cedar Rapids until retiring after 35 years. In 1979, shortly after Howard passed away, Arlene moved back to Cedar Rapids.

Arlene enjoyed genealogy, crosswords, Sudoku and playing Poker with friends. She loved to travel, taking girl trips all over the United States and Germany. Most of all she cherished time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Ron (Maureen) Fintel of Fenton, MO, Jerald (Linda) Fintel of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Travis (Monica), Tracey (Matt), Angie (Ray), Kimberly (Dusty), and Kyle; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild with another on the way; and brother, Robert Deppe.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; grandson, Christopher; siblings, Lillian Pohlman, Jeanne Stein, and Jim and Dick Deppe.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2023 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service, Belle Plaine, IA with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Keystone Cemetery, Keystone, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the Keystone Care Center or Essence of Life Hospice of Amana.
