David Dean Baker, 60, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away April 28, 2023, at Compass Memorial Hospital, Marengo, IA following a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
David was born June 20, 1962, to Keith and Pauline (Feldmeth) Baker in Marengo, IA. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, class of 1981. Following school, David worked at the Belle Plaine Co-op and Benco Manufacturing. He attended Kirkwood Community College for HVAC before going to work for P&K Midwest in Keystone, IA.
On November 3, 1984, David married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Holland at Chelsea United Methodist Church. Making their home in Belle Plaine the couple were blessed with two children.
When David was not at his favorite place, home with his family, he enjoyed everything outdoors. Hunting, fishing, ice fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and helping out on his family farm.
David enjoyed teaching his children his talent of building and fixing things. Including airplane models in his younger days, numerus projects at work and most recently rebuilding his dad's 1974 Dodge Power Wagon with his son, Nick.
David truly cared for people and had a way of making people smile, earning jokester of the year at work, being a faithful participant in the yearly chili cook-off and the Grinch for the community Christmas party.
He was a true friend that you could depend on and respected. David was able to continue giving upon his passing with the gift of cornea donation.
David is survived by his mom, Pauline of Chelsea; wife, Pam of Belle Plaine; children, Brittney and Nick Baker; siblings, Charlotte (Dave) Williams, Gary (Angie) Baker, Sarah (Jim Cronbaugh) Baker; brother-in-law, Terry (Colleen) Holland; sister-in-law, Amy Holland, and many more family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Keith Baker.
Celebration of Life is 1:30-4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7th at the Belle Plaine Country Club, with a time for sharing at 2:00 p.m.
