Dwayne Burkey
VINTON: Dwayne Burkey, 68, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.
Public Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton. Private Committal Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton conducted by Rev. Clarke E. Frederick. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Dwayne Burkery was born October 14, 1942 to Melvin and Lola (Allen) Burkey. On July 17, 1987 he married Judy Wright Clark at Vinton.
Dwayne was employed as a mechanic by the DOT for thirty-five years. In his leisure he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dirt track racing and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Vinton; his son, Donald Burkey of Vinton; his daughter, Debbra Burkey of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Lola Burkey of Vinton; his step-sons, Scott Clark of Vinton and Ryan Clark of Waterloo; his grandsons, Aaron Burkey and Jeffrey Burgess; his granddaughters, Amanda Burkey and Dannielle Burgess; and his sister, Beverly Hopkins of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin.
