Eleanor Lucille Coffland, age 96, of Van Horne, formerly of Blairstown passed away peacefully, on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown, with Rev. Jeff Schanbacher officiating. Interment will be held at Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until service time at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.

Eleanor Lucille Werning was born on July 17, 1926, in Eden Township near Vinton, the daughter of Arnold and Helen (Strellner) Werning and graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton with the class of 1943. On June 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Raymond C. Coffland at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, where Eleanor was also baptized and confirmed. They made their home on the farm between Blairstown and Watkins. After Raymond passed, She made her home in Van Horne, and later at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.

Eleanor delighted in being outdoors and treasured all that nature offered her. She enjoyed raising Australian Shepherd dogs, gardening, birdwatching, reading, crocheting, and playing cards. Eleanor served for many years as the St. Clair Township Republican Committee-Woman, as well as the township United Fund Board

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Janet (Dean) Rieck of Manchester, Jeanne Duffy of Newhall, Jay Dee Coffland of Center Point, Kent (Beverly) Coffland of Blairstown, and Kevin (Dawna) Coffland of Blairstown; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her sister Rosemarie Marsh; and sister-in-law, Darlene Werning

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond in 1988; son-in-law, Richard Duffy; brother, Robert Werning; brothers-in-law Joseph Marsh and Rollin Coffland; and daughter-in-law Sharon Coffland.
