With his wife by his side, Myron "Mike" Demmel passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, in his home, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, July 7 at Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home, Vinton.
Graveside service with military rites will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8 at Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. A 1:00 p.m. luncheon at the Vinton American Legion Hall, 105 N R Avenue, Vinton, will follow the graveside service.
Mike was born January 19, 1947 in Vinton, the son of Leland and Leone (Fuehrer) Demmel. He attended school in Vinton, finishing his studies while he was in the service. Mike proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. On March 18, 1967, Mike was united in marriage to Judith Ann Senneff at Lancaster, MO. Throughout his employment, Mike was a truck driver for DC Taylor, BL Anderson, Hill and Williams Brothers in Marion, Gary Liebe Trucking, Mark Liebe Trucking and Jim Happel Farm.
In his leisure time, Mike enjoyed his dogs and cat, camping, boating, kayaking, riding his Harley, taking his dogs riding on the golf cart, farming with his cousins, being with family and friends, eating, cooking, gardening, woodworking and pranking his friends and family.
Mike is survived by his wife, Judith of Vinton; son, Kenneth Demmel of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Shanon (Tim) Mielke of Ft. Worth, TX; and four grandchildren: Chase and Cassandra Demmel of Cedar Rapids and Ryan and Megan Mielke of Fort Worth, TX.
Preceding Mike in death were his parents, Leland Demmel and Leone Demmel Oyler; and step-father, Ferdnan Oyler.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. Donations will be made to Mike's two favorite charities: Last Hope Animal Rescue and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Mike was such a great person and a Dear Friend to my dad. Without his help and guidance my dad and I would have not had the experience of the Honor Flight. He will be missed Greatly... Prayers and Peace to you all! Love Deb Becker
