David "Dave" Arthur Haren, 80, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away July 11, 2023 at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Committal will take place at Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, IA. at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

David was born August 27, 1942 on the family farm in Milo Township, rural Delhi. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School, class of 1961. Following school, Dave worked as a mechanic for Ford Town, Cedar Rapids and then Rockwell Collins. On May 27, 1967 Dave married Elaine Lenaburg at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Van Horne, IA. They were blessed with two children.
In 1972 the couple moved to Delhi were Dave worked for Bradco and for Manchester Wastewater Department. In 1978 they made Belle Plaine there home. Where Dave started his career as superintendent for the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Dave had a tremendous work ethic, with Elaine by his side he continued to work part-time jobs after retirement. The most memorable starting in 1994 till recent, working security for several University of Iowa events, traveling to San Antonio, TX to work the Alamo Bowl and in 2012 Super Bowl 46 in Indianapolis, IN.
Dave and Elaine enjoyed life together with a passion for traveling. Taking trips on their Gold Wing motorcycle; visiting numerous national parks out West and East to the Appalachian Trail. They were always on the go, when not on the motorcycle, they were camping and fishing including trips to Canada and Yellowstone. While home they loved to socialize with their longtime friends in weekly card club and spend time on the golf course.
Dave was devoted in his faith, as a member of the First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine and multiple Bible study groups; spending many mornings at the Lincoln Café and evenings at friend's homes.
Dave was loving, loyal and truly cared for all his family. Being a grandpa meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine Haren of Belle Plaine; children, Jeff (Mary) Haren of Parma, MO, Brenda (Hugh) Hommel of Ocean City, MD; grandson, Adison Hommel; step-grandchildren, Zack and Justin Hommel, Robby (Alisha) Watson, Erica (Jerremy) Buttry; brother, Henry "Bud" Haren of Hopkinton, IA; brother-in-law, Kay (Geraldine) Lenaburg of Cedar Rapids, IA and many more loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lydia Ferguson and Minnie McRoberts; brothers, Ferdinand, Hiram, and John "Jack" Haren.
