Kent M. Pflug, age 80, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Unity Point Health in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 20, 2023, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins, with Rev. Douglas Woltemath officiating. Burial will be held at Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, Nebraska at a later date. A memorial fund has been established.
Kent was born on July 23, 1942, in Valley, Nebraska, the son of Kenneth George and Iris Mae (Johnson) Pflug. He graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Pharmacy. Kent married Gwen Scheer, and the couple later divorced. He later married Sheryl Janzen, and they later divorced.
Kent began his career as a pharmacist at Miller Pharmacy in Fremont, Nebraska. He later owned and operated the Rexall pharmacy in Onawa, Iowa for several years. After selling the pharmacy, Kent continued to practice as a pharmacist at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. He truly loved working with his patients throughout his career. Kent worked hard, and he also played hard In his leisure time, Kent loved spending time in the outdoors, boating, golfing, hunting and fishing, snow skiing, and going to movies. He loved his Nebraska Cornhuskers and was a loyal fan all his life! Kent loved life and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Matt (Sandra) Pflug of Ames, Kristi (Bryan) Phipps of Atkins, Dr. Jenny (Tom) Thompson of Billings, MT, Tyler Pflug of Lincoln, NE; 8 grandchildren, Nick (Tania) Pflug, Vanessa (Ed) Darden, Brandon (Camille) Pflug, Ben (Taylor) Phipps, Brad (Shantel) Phipps, Elisa (Quinn) Tonne, Gwen, and Amy Thompson; 12 great grandchildren, Izzy, Addie, Ava, Briyant, Keiyan, Speight, Annie, Everett, Remi, Lennon, Enora, and Lewis; 2 nieces, 4 nephews, and many extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Kelsey Pflug; and his sisters, Karen Marshall, and Bonnie Oldham.
Kent was strong in his faith, and he loved the Lord. He is now laughing with his sisters in heaven.
