Obituaries : Jennie Mae Anderson

Jennie Mae Anderson, 72, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023 at UIHC in Iowa City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2023 at First Christian Church, Vinton, with Pastor Richard Jumper officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3 at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Jennie was born December 4, 1950 in Newton, the daughter of John and Edna (Cook) Kling. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines. She then attended UNI where Jennie and Mark "found each other". They were united in marriage January 23, 1971 at Prince of Peace Church in Des Moines. Jennie was employed by Tama-Benton Coop for many years and was a valued employee. She was a Deacon and Elder in her church (Disciples of Christ) and taught Sunday school at Prince of Peace. She also found great pleasure helping her SHIIP clients.

Jennie enjoyed islands in the north woods, fall colors in the mountains, sunsets in the Caribbean and colorful fish on the coral reefs.

Left to cherish Jennie's memory are her husband of 52 years, Mark, whom will forever love her; three children: Laura (Jason) White, Greg (Vevalee) Anderson and Brian (Carrie) Anderson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters: Sally Kling, Peggy Klinge and Vickie Roach; and brother, Clayton (Debra) Kling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, William "Billy" Kling.
