Harold E. Alcott, 101, of Blairstown, IA passed away November 1, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, IA.

Harold was born March 5, 1922, the son of Marion R. and Helen Luetta (Henkle) Alcott, in a logging camp on East Crooked Lake, Hubbard Co., MN. In 1940 he graduated from Garrison High School, Garrison, IA. Harold married Doris L. Richardson of Marengo, IA on March 9, 1942 in Kahoka, Clark Co., MO. His sister, Ruby Faye Alcott was also married the same time and place to John Herbert "Herb" Kellogg.

Harold was a Veteran of World War II, serving in General Patten's Army and fought in France, Germany, and Austria. He was awarded a Bronze Star, as well as many other metals.

Some of Harold's occupations were a Benton County Road maintainer operator and a salvage recycler for many years.

Harold and Doris were the parents of Billie L. (Glen) Rammelsberg, and Harold "Ivan" (Mary) Alcott. He was the grandfather of 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris (May 20, 2004); sisters, Lillian (Mearl) Jones, Ruby (Herb) Kellogg, Florence (Jim) Thompson; stillborn brother, Alfred Mearl Alcott; and special friend, Jo Ann Fiester, widow of "Dick" Fiester.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Blairstown Presbyterian Church, with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown, IA, with Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the family.
