Obituaries : Craig A. “Sparky” Albertsen

 Craig A. "Sparky" Albertsen, age 65, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 14, 2023, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church Van Horne, with Rev. David Lingard officiating. Burial will follow at the Keystone Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM, Thursday at the church in Van Horne.  A memorial fund has been established.

Craig was born on November 25, 1958 in Waterloo, the son of Donald and Kay (Pickering) Albertsen.  He was baptized on December 14, 1958, and confirmed on May 6, 1973 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Van Horne.  Craig graduated from Benton Community High School with the class of 1977.  He worked with his father Don at Albertsen Electric Service in Van Horne, later taking over the company upon Don's retirement. He also worked as a jack of all trades for Nolan Farms in Van Horne.

Craig married Joann Barrett. The couple later divorced.

Craig was a member of the Van Horne Businessmen Club, The Keystone Turners, and St. Andrews Lutheran Church. He cherished helping others.

Survivors include his mother Kay of Van Horne; daughters, Amanda (Ethan) Scheer of Cloquet, MN and Jade (Shawn) Nutt of Atkins, grandchildren; Hunter Rinderknecht, Andi Nutt, Charli Nutt, and Miles Scheer, sister, Peggy (Verlen) Oelmann of Parkersburg; brother, David (Coreen) Albertsen of Keystone,

He is preceded in death by his father Donald Albertsen.
