Barbara "Barb" Valenti, 83, of La Porte City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Mercy One Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.
Following Barbs wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and her family will be hosting a public graveside service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Westview Cemetery located at 123 Palmer Drive, La Porte City, IA 50651. Memorial contributions may be directed in Barb's name to her family which will be later designated elsewhere at a later date. Barbara Thiele was born on March 29, 1940 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Lillianne (Maynard) Thiele. She was raised and educated in the La Porte City school district and graduated from La Porte City High School with the class of 1959. Following her graduation, Barb went on to Allen School of Nursing where she graduated with the class of 1963. Over her nursing career, Barb would serve as an Companion Sitter at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital as well as Mercy One Covenant Medical Hospital.
On June 10, 1960, Barb was united in marriage to Vince Valenti in La Porte City, Iowa. Although the couple did end up getting a divorce, they were blessed with one amazing son, Joel. Barb embraced her church and religion and always loved spending time with her family and close friends. She loved the life that she was blessed with and loved always helping others that were in need. Barb had a unique gift that made so many of her patients feel comfortable and that gift pored over into her family and friends. Barb was a one of kind woman who is going to be truly missed by all of those that knew her.
Left to cherish her memory is her son: Joel (Rebecca) Valenti; grandchildren: Cole Valenti, Lillianne Valenti and Jagger Valenti; siblings: Lois (Ron) Salmonson, Gary (Janet) Thiele and Jim (Cathy) Thiele; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Lillianne Thiele; one brother: Donald Thiele; three sisters: Dorothy Thiele, Judy Brennanan and Mary Wright.
