William "Bill" D. Suchy, 73 of Belle Plaine, IA passed away January 4, 2024, at Compass Memorial Healthcare, Marengo, IA.

Bill was born November 30, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Edwin and Ellen (Theissen) Suchy. Bill spent his life in Belle Plaine.

Growing up with his dad a railroad worker, Bill developed a lifelong fascination for trains. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting or just going for a country drive. Bill liked to cook, making a mean lasagna and meatloaf.

Bill had the gift to gab and was happiest with a cold beer and a friendly ear to listen. Those that knew him would say was a masterful storyteller, keeping you guessing at what he would come up with next. Most of all he loved his family with his two great-nieces being his top priority.

He is survived by his mother, Ellen; sister, Barbara Suchy; brother-in-law, Brian Novak; niece, Kasey (Garrett) Landuyt; great-nieces, Maddy and Ivy Marek all of Belle Plaine; stepson, Dean Anderson of Bloomer, WI; significant other, Margaret Bolger of Belle Plaine, and many friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Edwin; and infant siblings, Rita and Joy Suchy.
