Jo Anne Lee Heckroth, 79, of La Porte City, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born July 7, 1944, in Charles City, the daughter of Glenn and Betty (Aschenbrenner) Lee. She married Donald Heckroth on February 7, 1964.

Jo Anne worked as a hairstylist for thirty years, and at GMAC for ten years. She also helped Donald with work on their farm. Jo Anne was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City, and was also a member of Washburn Moose Lodge #328, VFW, American Legion, Amvets, and La Hoya, Tx VFW Post 3895 Auxiliaries. She loved spending time with her grandkids and family, including her special family and friends in Texas. She also enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially golf, and fishing. She spent many enjoyable hours playing cards with friends and family, and loved her Dallas Cowboys. 

She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Donald Heckroth of La Porte City; her children: Steve (Debbie) Wilson of La Porte City, and Stephanie (Troy) Randall of Independence; her brothers: Jim (Kathy) Lee of Ankeny, Jeff (Kim) Lee of La Porte City, and John (Elaine) Lee of Mt. Auburn; her sisters: Jill (Mike) Mikesh of La Porte City, and Judy (Roger) Greek of La Porte City; grandchildren: Chris (Randi) Wilson, USAF Tech Sergeant Dave (Jess) Wilson, Brittany Grendler, Lance (Rachelle) Randall, Thaden (Zoe) Randall; great-grandchildren: Ezekiel and Isabella Randall, and Jack Wilson; as well of lots of other people who called her mom and grandma; and her extended Texas family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and son Lonnie Heckroth.

A visitation will take place from 4:00-6:00 PM Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. Paul Methodist Church in La Porte City. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.LockeFuneralServices.com
