Vernon Parizek, 94, of Elberon, passed away on February 6, 2024 at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, due to complications of a stroke.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone from 4-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held the following day on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Elberon Christian Church.
Vernon was born on July 7, 1929, the son of Fred and Lucille (Konicek) Parizek. Vernon graduated from Keystone High School with the class of 1947.
He was united in marriage to Wilma Nielsen on November 15, 1952 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They lived on the Parizek Family Farm for many years. Vernon was a member of the Elberon Christian Church, and formerly the Secretary of the Elberon Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Elberon Rural Fire Department, Hawkeye Tractor Association, Mid-Iowa Antique Power Association, Genealogical Society of Tama, and The Tama County Cattleman's Association.
He is survived by his son; Randall (Lesa) Parizek of Elberon, daughters; Rachel Parizek of Traer, and Christy Lichty of Waterloo, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren (with one on the way), 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 son in laws; Gordy Clarke of Hudson, and William King of Cedar Rapids, and 1 sister in law Beverly Parizek of Cedar Rapids.
He is preceded by his parents, wife Wilma, daughters; Rita King, Cathy Clarke, son in law Tom Lichty, brothers, Stanley Parizek, and Leland Parizek, sisters; Bernice Dulin, Ethel Goble and Lillian Musel, sister in laws; Wanda Lastovka, and Iona Nielsen, brother in laws; Herbert Dulin, Lester Musel, Stanley Gobel, and Alvin Lastovka.
