Rick W. Schlitter, 67 passed away on March 25, 2024 at Mercy One Hospital in Waterloo.
A private family gathering will be held at 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM, Friday, March 29, 2024, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212. E. 6th Street) in Vinton. The family asks that only family members/extended family members attend.
Rick was born on April 22, 1956, the son of Willard and Shirley (Krug) Schlitter. Rick attended Washington High School in Vinton with the class of 1974. Following high school he was employed by The Dubuque Packing Plant in Vinton. Rick also worked for Pioneer International Hybrid in Dysart, Kerry Ingredients in Vinton, and drove the grain truck on the farm.
Rick enjoyed the outdoors and all that it had to offer. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting, and bird watching. He was also an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his children; Jeff Schlitter of Arizona, and Ryan Schlitter of West Virginia, brothers; Kevin Schlitter of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Scott Schlitter of Vinton, and Craig Schlitter of Vinton, nephews; J.D. Schlitter of Chicago, and Mitchell Schlitter of Vinton, niece; Megan Schlitter of Vinton, and aunts; Shirley Schlitter of Sumner, Carol Schlitter of Phoenix, and Lois Irwin of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
