Obituaries : John Morris Beck Jr.

John Morris Beck Jr., 67, of Belle Plaine, IA passed away May 9, 2024 at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids, IA.

John was born February 23, 1957 to John Sr. and Esther Beck in Marengo, IA. He attended Belle Plaine High School. Following school, John traveled to rodeos throughout the country for a couple years, bareback bronc riding. He eventually followed in his father's footsteps as a maintainer operator for Benton County Secondary Roads.

John loved to play guitar around the campfire, enjoyed watching rodeos and Rocky Balboa. He was a loving father, grandfather, husband and friend to all. He was a "good old cowboy"

John is survived by his wife, Joanne Beck of Belle Plaine; children, Cody Beck, Jacie (Nick) Gunderson both of Belle Plaine, Melissa Beck of La Grande, Levi (Jenna) Roseland, Kalista (Dameon) Roseland; siblings, Richard (Nelsene) Beck, Jerry Beck, Dennis (Deb) Beck and Joan (Scott) Schild; many more grandkids, family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is Tuesday 4-7 p.m. May 14, 2024 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service. With a Celebration of Life at a later date.
