Amanda Sue Parker, 33, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at First Christian Church, Vinton, with Pastor Marty Schminkey of Independence officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., at the church on Thursday. Private burial at a later date. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is caring for Amanda and her family. Please honor the family's request of no media presence.

Amanda was born March 16, 1991, in Waukegan, IL, the daughter of Robert and LaNette (Kenney) Parker. She attended school in Vinton, graduating with the class of 2009. Amanda loved being a caregiver for the elderly. She was currently employed as a server for The Olde Brick House in Cedar Rapids.

In her leisure time, Amanda loved taking care of others, spending time with her dog, "Little Man", adult coloring, and portraying her rollerskating skills by being a member of the Cedar Rapids Roller Girls. Amanda was the sunshine of her dad's life, and no matter where she went, she illuminated the room with her smile.

Left to cherish Amanda's memory are her mother, LaNette Parker; father, Robert Parker; sister, Sarah Parker; brothers: Bobby (Ronaka) Parker, and Joey Parker; nieces and nephews: Nathan, Malachi, Zavian, Zariah, Addison, Andrew, Aydon, Alayna, Alan, Abigael and one on the way; maternal grandmother, Nadine Leise; and several other family members.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Thursby Leise; paternal grandparents, Ken and Rose Parker; and uncle, Dan Kenney.

A memorial fund has been established.
