Kay Ann Wirth, 57, of Vinton, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab, Vinton, following a brief battle with cancer. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, at Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton, with Pastor Shane Klein officiating. Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home is assisting Kay's family.

Kay was born April 4, 1967, in Vinton, the daughter of Paul and Carmen (Rammelsberg) Wirth. She attended school in Vinton, graduating from Washington High School in 1986. She attended Kirkwood Community College, earning two degrees in food service. Throughout her career, Kay shared her culinary skills at Hy Vee and Ryan's Steak House, Cedar Rapids, as well as the Lutheran Home and Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton.

In her leisure time, Kay enjoyed reading, traveling, making holiday sweets for the family and being a "professional aunt," which allowed her to spoil her nieces and nephews.

Left to cherish Kay's memory are her siblings: Penny (Bart Schoonover) Wirth, Steve (Joleen) Wirth, Jane Wirth and Mike (Heidi) Wirth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
