Obituaries : Sandra Ellen Rawson

Sandra Ellen Rawson, 79, of Vinton, Iowa was called to rest on Monday, July 29, 2024 at her home surrounded by family after a long illness.

A celebration of Sandy's life will be held at a later date.

Sandy was born on August 2, 1944 in Cedar Rapids to Holland and Doris (Milroy) Grimm. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962 and married the love of her life, Terry Rawson on October 22, 1966. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma.

Terry and Sandy raised 7 children. Sandy also worked outside the home at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed gardening and canning and spent countless hours sewing masterpieces for her family creating Halloween costumes, baptismal gowns, holiday apparel, graduation quilts and so much more. Sandy loved all family vacations and holidays, as they were always centered around the little ones. Especially the cherished memories of taking grandchildren on numerous trips to Disney World. She also enjoyed "trying her luck" with the slot machines at an occasional casino.

Family was always first with Sandy and those left to cherish her memory are her husband Terry of 57 years; 6 children, Kim (Jeff) Danzer of Cedar Rapids, Keith (Ann) Rawson of Texas, Joni (Mike) Fowler of Vinton, Scott (Dana) Dinderman of Palo, Tammy Rawson of Vinton, Russ (Kris) Rawson of California, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and her son, Troy.
