Janet K. Burroughs, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, with her loving family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August, 21, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Jim Brokman as Celebrant. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 10:15 AM on Wednesday, also at St. Mary's. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Janet K. Schutterle was born on January 28, 1941, at Homestead, Iowa, in Iowa County to George and Louise (Carlson) Schutterle. She was the sister to Harold and Gerald Schutterle. At the age of three, her family moved to Jackson Township, to a farm near Garrison, Iowa
Janet graduated from Vinton High School with the class of 1959. On July 18, 1959, she was united in marriage to Ronald Burroughs at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Janet worked sixteen years for the Benton County Law Enforcement Center in Food Service, and retired in 2003.
Janet enjoyed watching her grandchildren in school and sporting activities. She enjoyed reading, feeding the birds, especially the orioles and hummingbirds. She was known for her cooking, especially her birthday treats for her family.
She will be dearly missed by her boys, Brad (Dea), and Brian (Rachel); her grandchildren, Beth (Nathan) Geater, Bryce (Devon) Burroughs, Brea (Cody) Robertson, and Teagan Burroughs. Her great-grandchildren, Maryn, and Kason Geater, Bennett Burroughs, and Rhett, and Banks Robertson. She is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Andy (Jenny) Nachtman, Shane (Molly) Nachtman, and Devon (Anna) Nachtman; and two step-great-grandchildren, Paityn, and James Nachtman, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ron on December 28, 2023; and her two brothers, Harold and Gerald Schutterle.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Lutheran Living Communities, and Compassus, and Virginia Gay Hospital, during her brief illness.
