Paul Otto Haendler, 93, of Norway, died Thursday, November 21, 2024 at his home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Paul is survived by his wife, Marlene; daughters Debra Prevost (Doug Stover) of Mesa, AZ, and Christina (Randy) Coleman of Overgaard, AZ; sons Rik (Brenda) Haendler of Norway, IA and Dik Haendler of Fort Madison, IA; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his 2 sisters; 3 brothers; and son-in-law, Jeff Prevost.
Paul was born on October 12, 1931, in Burlington, the son of Otto and Christina Busse Haendler. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa Wesleyan and a Master's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. On August 3, 1952, he married Marlene Joann Douglas in Denmark, IA and then served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. Paul's passion was being a music teacher and choir director for several school district's and churches in the Midwest and in Phoenix, AZ. In his spare time, Paul worked as a realtor and formally owned Realty One.
Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling the world. He took trips to Germany and Switzerland and was always fond of trips to Mexico and San Francisco. He loved playing the piano, directing choirs and gardening.
