George Albert Vileta, 80, passed away on Sunday, November 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone, with Rev. Brian Channel officiating, Interment with military rites will be held at National Cemetery in Vining. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until service time, also at the funeral home.
George was born in the country home of Albert Jr. and Irline (Wilson) Vileta, rural Keystone. He attended York #1 country school through the 8th grade then graduated from Keystone High School in 1962.
George served in the US Army National Guard for 6 years. On December 1, 1963, George was united in marriage to Lorraine Kos at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Toledo. Together they farmed for 61 years.
George was a member of the Elberon American Legion. He enjoyed playing Rolle Bolle, card games, mushroom and deer hunting and being with family.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine; children Denise (Tim) Fitzpatrick, Michele (Jim) Wilkie, Diane Vileta (Paul Rayhill), Kim Vileta (Heather Gudenkauf); grandchildren Kaitlyn (Nathan) Vande Wall, Tanner (Brooke) Wilkie, Nathan Vileta (Brittany Bathke), Bradley (Michaela) Vileta and sister Marlys (Leland) Kos.
George was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger and nephew Keith Kos.
Memorial donations may be made to Hall Perrine Cancer Center or Oldorf Hospice House.
