Kay Irwin Snow, 74, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at River of Life Church in Cedar Rapids, with Pastors Steve Irwin and Brian Fink officiating. Her family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until service time at the church on Sunday. Public committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Garrison Cemetery in Garrison. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Kay was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Garrison, to Byron and Virginia (Henkle) Irwin, and graduated from Garrison High School in 1954. On March 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to John “Jack” Snow in Garrison. He preceded her in death on May 11 of this year.
Kay devoted her life to her Lord, to her family, and to the church. She served on the mission field with Calvary Commission, led Bible studies and was a spiritual mentor to many people. She was also a loving Foster Mother to many children during her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Melody Snow Iverson of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Hannah, Shelby, Hunter and Tanner; her great-grandson, Nathan; her brother, Gary (Marilyn) Irwin of Forest Lake Minn.; her sister, Sharon (Phillip) Diaz of Westminster, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Bryant in 1993.
