William E. "Bill" Seely. 78. Died Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 30 at Oak Grove Church in Shellsburg with Pastor Matt Magee officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until service time also at the church.

Bill was born on August 9, 1946, the son of Floyd Seely and Glennys (Rice) Seely. Bill attended Vinton graduating with the class of 1965. He was united in marriage to Nancy Bruce on September 30, 1967 at Oak Grove Church in Shellsburg. Bill served in the United States Army from 1966 until 1968.

Bill was employed by Iowa Electric/DAEC from 1968 until his retirement in 2009. After retirement Bill enjoyed watching stock car races and fishing. He attended the Daytona 500 many times in his life. He was a member of Oak Grove Church and the Shellsburg American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, children; Chad (Mary) Seely of Palo, James (Erin) Seely of Palo, and Alicia Seely of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Adam (Nikki) Kates, Anna (Dan) Daman, Alee Doneson, Mikaela Seely, Noah Seely, Adison Mixdorf, Hannah Seely, Jonah Seely, AJ (Breezy) Seely, and Carter Seely; great-grandchildren, Avery Kates, Charly Kates, Elaine Daman, Henry Daman, Walter Daman, Reid Seely, and Riley Seely; sisters, Mary (Charly) Comried and Dorla (Steve) Voigt; sister in laws, Beverly Bruce and Martha Bruce.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister in laws; Ethel Sweet and Mary Michels, brother in laws; David Bruce, Walter Bruce, Dick Sweet, and Dick Michels, niece; Shawn Comried.
