It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our mother, Joyce Elaine Lefebure (Fields), who left us on January 22, 2025 after a beautifully lived life. She was a wonderful mother who always said that her children were the best things in her life and her love for us was very apparent. Our mother was a strong and independent woman who made her family her priority. She had a beautiful smile that would light up a room. Our mom was selfless, generous, and was always there to help her friends and family. Our mother was a friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength.
Joyce is survived by her children, Lindy (Craig) Von Ahsen, Cedar Rapids and Al (Maureen) Lefebure, Camanche, IA; 4 grandchildren, Kirsten (Mark) Goslin, Garrison, IA, Kylee Von Ahsen, Antioch, TN, Allie (Zach) Smith, Camanche, IA and Lea Dodson (Dylan), Johnston, IA; and 2 great-grandchildren, Aiden Goslin and Tyson Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Jeffrey Alan Fields, Marion, IA, sister-in-law Dorothy Fields, Cedar Rapids, IA and her dear friend, Mary Decker of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Joyce was predeceased by her son Robert "Bobby" Henry Lefebure, her ex-husband and close friend, Eugene "Gene" Lefebure; brothers, Melvin Christopherson and John Fields; sister, LaDonna "Jeannie" Carroll; parents, Roy & Nellie Fields, long time friend, Melvin Kesselring, her loyal Chows, Marty, Max, Bella and George and rescue pup, Sally.
Joyce will be buried next to her father in Koszta, Iowa. The family is having a private gathering to celebrate her life.
The family would like to thank our mother's caregiver, Tina Hartson, for the wonderful care that she provided to our mother the last 4 years. With Tina's help, our mother was able to live in her own home until her final days. Tina was our "rock" and provided us with so much strength. Thank you Tina, for your unwavering support and for giving our mother the dignity and love she deserved for her last years. We would also like to thank Cristie Greenwaldt for the care she provided to our mother. Last, but not least, the family wants to express our thanks to UnityPoint Hospice. The assistance provided by the hospice team - Chris Sagon, Ollie Stark, Kayle Schulz, James Booth and Angela (St. Luke's in patient team), will never be forgotten.
