Beverly "Bev" Kay Crooks, 82, of Cedar Falls, and formerly of La Porte City, died Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Western Home Communities. She was born on November 27, 1942, in Le Mars, IA, the daughter of Arnold and Minnie Stulc Danne. Bev graduated from Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI) in 1964 and taught in Belle Plaine, retiring in 2003 as an elementary guidance counselor. She married Ronald Crooks on June 12, 1965, in Sioux City and the couple was blessed with two children. Bev was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City.

Bev loved her family and loved to cook and bake for them, including banana bars and brownies. She found joy in attending every event of her children and grandchildren that she could. Bev was fond of dressing up, paying attention to her clothes, hair and nails. She loved to shop and worked for a time at Dillard's and Casual Corner where she enjoyed meeting people. Bev was good at decorating her home and had a Christmas tree that she never took down but decorated for every holiday during the year. She was very active with her church and making shawls that she donated to the nursing home. Bev stayed in touch with her many friends over the years and enjoyed entertaining them in her home. She was especially fond of spending summers at their lake home on Holiday Lake in Brooklyn, although she wasn't fond of the water.

Bev is survived by her husband, Ron, of Cedar Falls; children Sara Primmer of Marion and Jeff Crooks of Dysart; grandchildren Kaylee (Nick) McQuilkin and their daughter Grace of La Porte City, Katelyn (Jared) McGowan and their daughter Lakyn of Center Point, Brenton Johnson of Bartlesville, OK and Myah Primmer of Marion; brother Doug Danne of Northville, MI; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Arlan Danne.
