(Mary) Jo Ann Ostrom, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at AltaVita Senior Residences in Longmont, Colorado.

Jo Ann was born on September 2, 1932, in Belle Plaine, Iowa to Oliver Patrick and Kathryn Thelma (Wiese) Meyocks. Jo Ann grew up in Belle Plaine where she met her best friend and sweetheart, Dean Ray Ostrom. They married May 1, 1952, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, Iowa and honeymooned in Colorado.

Jo Ann and Dean moved from Fort Bragg, North Carolina where Dean was stationed in the United States Army, to California in 1958 where they adopted two children, Timothy and Teresa, soon to be followed by the birth of their son Mark in 1962. In 1970, Dean's job was transferred to Colorado where the Ostrom family made their new home in Aurora. The birth of their son Greg that same year completed the family. Once the children were older, Jo Ann began a career as a travel agent and co-owner of Bridge Creek Travel. As an added benefit to being a travel expert, Jo Ann and Dean were avid world travelers. Additionally, Jo Ann loved attending book clubs, playing bridge, and participating in other social activities during their retirement years in Loveland, Colorado.

There are three overall defining elements to Jo Ann as an individual; primarily, her love and devotion to our dad, second, her pride and joy in her family, and her commitment to Christ and Catholicism. As Jo Ann's children, we take great comfort in the belief that our mom has joyfully reunited with dad in heaven and that they are together again. It is nearly impossible to think of one without the other.

Surviving are four children, Tim (Gayle) of Clarksdale, Mississippi, Teresa (Brent) Worthington of Burlington, Iowa, Mark (Sara) of Longmont and Greg (Krystal) of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Lindsay, Kyle, and Jay; and four great-grandchildren, Delainey, Miles, Reid, and Grace.

A Catholic blessing at the gravesite will occur in Hartwick, Iowa at a date to be determined.

Our mom's final home was AltaVita Memory Care. The family holds a deep appreciation for the loving staff who took care of her there. In lieu of flowers, we would ask donations to be directed to: "AltaVita Memory Care Staff Appreciation" - 800 S Fordham Street, Longmont, CO 80503.
