Brooke E. Cunningham, 53, of Eldora, IA, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brandon Community Center in Brandon, Iowa on Saturday, September 27th, from 3-7 pm. There will also be a memorial toast to Brooke on Saturday, October 11th, at the Firehouse in Eldora, Iowa, starting at 4 pm. With honor, Adams Celebration of Life is serving the family.


Brooke was born on September 17, 1971, in Eldora, Iowa, the son of Floyd “Gene” Cunningham and Jan Eischen. He graduated from Eldora-New Providence High School in 1990 and earned his accounting degree and CPA from the University of Northern Iowa in 1995. After graduating, he moved to Cedar Rapids, where he worked for Deloitte and Touche before spending 26 years at GreatAmerica Financial Services.


Brooke was an avid fisherman, whether casting in the trout streams of Northeast Iowa or ice fishing on Lake Okoboji/Spirit Lake. He also enjoyed rock hunting and cherished time with friends and family, boating and camping along the Mississippi River


In 2002, Brooke married Kahree Birker, and they made their home in Vinton, Iowa. Together they raised two boys, Brycen and Jayce. They later divorced.


He is survived by his mother Jan Eischen of Eldora, his father Floyd “Gene” Cunningham of Iowa Falls, and his sons Brycen and Jayce Cunningham of Brandon, his sisters Cori (Josh) Long of Ogden, Ali (Young) Cunningham of Urbandale, and (Jacob) Kati Cunningham of Ankeny, his brother Aaron Eischen of Eldora, his grandmother Mary Ann Cunnigham of Marshalltown, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and a very close group of friends.


Brooke was preceded in death by his grandmother Jackie VanDerVeer; grandfather Floyd Cunningham; Uncle Scott Hootman; Aunt Linda Savage; and cousins Mark Schwarck and Gage Schwarck.

RF September 21, 2025, 10:19 pm So sad to hear this. I had not seen Brooke since running into him on a sandbar a few years ago. Enjoyed my days as his teacher and coach. He was always very respectful and liked by all. My condolences to the family.
