Obituaries : Darlo Bruce Jones

Darlo Bruce Jones, age 81, of Lisbon, formerly of Keystone, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.

A Celebration of Darlo’s Life will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone.  A memorial fund has been established.

Darlo was born on July 7, 1944 in Marengo, IA, to Howard and Frieda (Huedepohl) Jones.  Darlo graduated from Keystone High School with the class of 1962.  And Iowa State University with the class of 1970.  He farmed in the Keystone area and also drove a truck prior to his retirement. 

Darlo lived life to the fullest. He worked hard, laughed often, and found joy in the simple things — a good day’s work, a great conversation, and time spent with those he loved. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an unforgettable impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Jenny Kent of Lisbon, Tim (Sarah) Jones of Anna, Texas; 3 grandchildren, Logan Kent, Aaron Jones and Luke Jones; great-granddaughter, Sophie Kent; sister, Dorothy (Dale) Selk; brother, Richard (Judy) Jones; brother-in-law, Delbert Selk; and sister-in-law Mary Jones.

Darlo was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanette Selk; brother Gary Jones; and beloved partner Betty Stoneking.
