Robert E. Miller, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Edenbrook of Oshkosh.
In Garrison, Iowa, on November 16, 1937, Robert was born to Robert and Marjorie (Arthur) Miller, Sr.
Following Bob’s graduation from high school in 1956, he attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
Bob was united in marriage to Elaine Seboldt on December 28, 1960 in Garrison. They had three daughters and they loved spending time together as a family.
He worked for United Fire and Casualty in Cedar Rapids for a short time before returning to school at The University of Iowa – College of Law in Iowa City, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1967. In 1968, his family moved to Oregon, where Bob served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Public Utilities Commission and as a Deputy Insurance Commissioner for the state of Oregon. In 1987, Bob and Elaine moved to the Chicago area where he was the executive vice president of the National Fraternal Congress of America. They then moved to Neenah in 1993 and in 1994, Bob became the president of the Equitable Reserve Association. He remained there until his retirement in 2006. When Bob was working, he traveled quite extensively and absolutely enjoyed being home following his retirement. He loved searching for antiques, growing a vegetable garden, and watching Iowa Football.
Robert will be greatly missed by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Elaine; their daughters: Nicole (Tim) Hyatt and Karin (Shane) Tucker; their grandchildren: Nathaniel (Talline Awabdeh) Hyatt and Colin Hyatt; and their great-grandchildren: Sylvian and Amina Awabdeh Hyatt; his brothers-in-law: Verlyn Seboldt and Richard (Denise) Seboldt; his sisters-in-law: Linda (Robert) Ridenour and Jeanne (Ted) Mann; as well as other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristin; and his sister-in-law, Ellen Seboldt.
The Memorial Service for Robert will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Garrison, IA. A time to gather will be held from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service. Inurnment will take place in Garrison at a later date.
