Obituaries : Linda M. Niedert

Linda M. Niedert, 75, of La Porte City, passed away Thursday January 1, 2026, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.

She was born in Waterloo on March 18, 1950, daughter of Carroll and Lillian (Berka) Trout. She graduated from Orange High School with the class of 1968. Linda was united in marriage with Dennis Niedert on June 28, 1968, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

She was a homemaker but had worked at Woolworths, Bechtold Hardware and the Hy-Vee Deli. Most recently she was a sandwich artist at Subway. Linda truly enjoyed Christmas, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dennis of La Porte City; son, David (Karrie) Niedert of Independence; daughter, Jenn (Kurt) Alpers of Dysart; five grandchildren, Andrew (Molly) Niedert of Cedar Rapids, Karlie (Kody) Kuper of Ackley, Kaitlin (Jack) Thode of Chicago, Koby (Abby) Alpers of Cedar Falls, Emma (Kaleb Roach) Alpers of La Porte City; two great-grandchildren, Sutton and Shay Niedert; brother, Darrell Trout of Forrest Hills, NY; as well as numerous brother and sister- in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Sharon Schotter; and niece, Amanda Schotter.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 -6:00 PM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at Locke at Tower Park, 4140 Kimball Ave, Waterloo.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday January 6, 2026 at Locke at Tower Park.
