Obituaries : Randy A. Thede

Randy A. Thede, 75, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.

Randy was born on December 18, 1950, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Lester Thede and Jean Wolfe. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1971. Randy was united in marriage to Susie McAtee on June 7, 1986, at First Christian Church in Center Point, Iowa. He worked as an optician for Dr. Kitchen and Dr. Hand and retired in 2013.

Randy enjoyed bar bingo, karaoke, and Iowa Hawkeye sports. He loved to travel, go on cruises, and the many years spent on their pontoon at Ellis Harbor.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Thede; sister, Linda Lindsey; cousin, Deb Lancaster, all of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents.
