Obituaries : David Glenn Bickal

David Glenn Bickal, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026, at his son’s home in Toddville with family by his side. 

A Celebration of David’s life will be held on his birthday, Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Chain Lakes Bridge Natural Area in Palo from 4:00 PM until dark. 

David was born May 29, 1942, in Vinton to Harold and Idella (Steinmetz) Bickal.  He graduated from Shellsburg High School, with the class of 1961.  He was united in marriage to Marilyn Primrose on August 3, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Vinton.  David worked as a sheet metal fabricator and was a partner at D.A.D. Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids. 

David loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and truly loved the Schnauzers he and Marilyn raised.  

He is survived by his son, Greg (Martha) Bickal of Toddville; his granddaughter, Mia Bickal; and his sister, Kathy (Bill) Zeller of Palo.

In addition to his parents, and beloved wife Marilyn, David was preceded in death by his son Todd.
