Jo Ann Weigle Olson, 93, of Keystone, and formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, April 22, 2026, while a resident of Keystone Nursing Care Center. She was born on February 20, 1933, the daughter of John Weigle and Alberta Miller Weigle. Jo Ann married James C. Olson on August 31, 1956, and the couple was blessed with three children. She was a daycare provider and homemaker. Jo Ann lived her entire life in and around Orange Township, graduated from Orange High School in 1952, and was a lifelong member of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren.
Jo Ann loved to care for children-both her own as well as those of others. She was a member of 52 Club, a group of classmates, and she held "Club Day" sacred as she did various activities with them. Jo Ann had a distinct sense of humor, is remembered as being spunky and having an infectious laugh. She enjoyed cooking and especially making brownies and was frequently referred to as "Grandma Hershey." She was the classic homemaker, caring for her family on the farm and though she never had a driver's license, it never stopped her from delivering lunch to the field in the car.
Jo Ann is survived by her son William (Cathy) Olson of Dysart; grandchildren Katie Trueg of Waterloo, Mariah (Gary Detrich of Waterloo, Seth (Kari) Johnson of Omaha, Hollie (Mark) Bebee of Evansdale, Sarah (Ben) Olson-Williams of Des Moines, and Jordan Olson of Dysart; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded by her husband, son Robert and his wife Marge, daughter Carrie Johnson, and brothers Melvin Weigle and Larry Weigle.
Graveside funeral services for Jo Ann will be Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 11:30 AM, at Orange Township Cemetery on Kimball Ave. Memorial contributions should be directed to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lockefuneralservices.com.
