Obituaries : Nancy Ann (Feiden) Newton

Nancy Ann (Feiden) Newton, 91, went to her eternal home with Jesus on April 30, 2026, with family surrounding her.

     Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher officiating. Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the church. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, Blairstown or Central Lutheran School, Newhall.

    Nancy was born on March 20, 1935 to Martin (M.E.) and Hazel (Bennett) Feiden, in Oskaloosa, IA. She graduated from Franklin High School, Cedar Rapids in 1953. Nancy attended Carthage College in Carthage, IL, majoring in home economics. She married Wayne Newton on June 19, 1960 at First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. They were blessed with three children, Deborah, Donald and Daniel, raising them on the family farm near Luzerne. Nancy was a devoted wife to Wayne. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family and love.

     Nancy cherished her church family. She and Wayne were founding members of the Grace Lutheran Young Couple’s Club, which later became the Philia Club. Nancy also served in various roles with the Ladies’ Aid.

     Family was important to Nancy. Her unselfish heart was committed to everyone around her. Nancy’s sense of humor was a gift to all who were able to be in her presence.

     Nancy and Wayne cherished travels they were able to take with family, friends and the Kirkwood Board of Directors. She held dear the “shenanigans” with the Feiden family in Chetek, WI and the Newtons in California.   

     Besides her faith and family, her “loves” included sending and receiving greeting cards, watching the Hallmark Channel, playing BINGO and collecting Precious Moments.

     Nancy is survived by her children, daughter Deb Mortensen of Alta, son Don (Kelly) of Luzerne and son Dan (Carrie) of Blairstown; grandchildren Seth (Ashley) of Blairstown, Abbey (Deven) Neve of Newhall, Alison and Marcus of Blairstown; great-grandchildren Caleb, Bryer, Ella and Cooper Neve, Brody and Madeline Newton. Nancy will also be missed by her sisters-in-law Donna Lahn of Sioux City and Char Majewsky of Costa Mesa, CA, brother-in-law Marv Newton of Solvang, CA, stepbrother Tom Dodd of Vinton and cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

     Preceding her in death were Nancy’s husband, Wayne, her parents, Martin and Hazel Feiden, her stepmother Evelyn Feiden, Wayne’s parents Donald and Neoma Newton, son-in-law Dave Mortensen, brother Robert Feiden, sister Carol Olsen, brothers-in-law Vic Lahn, Bill Majewsky, Arne Olsen, sister-in-law Janet Feiden and nephew Mark Olsen.

     The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to neighbor Becky Rieck and the staff at Keystone Care Center for caring for Nancy. She appreciated your genuine care and kindness.
