VINTON: Pastor "Preacher" Howe, 65, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St., in Vinton with Pastor John Wagenschutz officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 PM on Friday. A memorial fund has been established.
He was born March 20, 1944 at Peoria, IL to Lloyd and Ida (Primble) Howe. On July 13, 1968 he was united in marriage to Barbara Talley at Peoria.
He was the Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Vinton and enjoyed auto racing and cars. His greatest love was his family.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara and his children, Melvin (Elisha) Howe and Kim (Randy) Rouse, all of Vinton; his grandchildren, Emily Howe, Warren Rouse, Abigail Howe, Caleb Rouse, Joshua Howe, Jacob Howe, Adessa Howe, Halee Weems, Dustin Weems, and Faith Weems; his Brothers & Sisters in Christ at Cornerstone Baptist Church; his brothers, Gary (Deb) Howe of Milan, IL, and Steve Howe of Brimfield, IL; and his sister, Betty (Cliff) Hasslebacker of Morton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Everett, Don, and Bill Howe.
